- an extra week of market days!
The intensity and scope of our medieval market makes it the biggest event of the year by far. This year’s market will be extended from 6 to 12 days.
Rows of stalls and booths – where hucksters from Denmark and abroad boisterously sell their wares – surround the palisades and gate towers of the nobleman’s farm.
Musicians perform and street performers cut capers.
The beggar hastens past the harlot locked in the pillory but is overtaken by the soldiers.
A holy procession walks to the trial.
The judge passes sentence on the accused.
Children’s activities galore, the smell of herring and the fragrance of lamb roasted on a spit over an open fire, while hearty ale and mead are raised in toasts in the hostelry.
Special events, 16.– 21. July (week 29): Tournament
Knights splinter their lances jousting on horseback for honour and dignity.
Special events, 23.– 28. July (week 30): Nobleman’s Farm Attacked by Thieves.
Combat groups armed with firearms, bows and arrows depict an attack – typical of those that occurred on Bornholm in the Middle Ages.
